Why does Stara Drukarnia support art and young artists from Łódź?

Stara Drukarnia is a place that is located on both the business and cultural map of Łódź. In our office building in Łódź, we rent spaces to companies that value prestige, flexibility, modern approach and unique interiors. Together with our tenants, we create a community that not only integrates during internal events, but also cooperates perfectly with each other in the environment of art.

Why art?

From the very beginning it was clear: Stara Drukarnia is not just an office building. Already at the planning stage of the revitalization, investors and project managers unanimously emphasized that one of the foundations of this place will be art for employees and tenants and opening up to the local community and artists. Space should inspire — not only through design, but through a real, lively association with creativity. This is exactly what happens. This approach has become a mission for us and distinguishes us from other investments in Łódź, giving this place a unique character.

Łódź murals

Łódź is a city of murals, and Stara Drukarnia adds its three or even four pennies to this brilliant form of large-scale artistic expression. Our murals are an integral part of the printed identity and have always been part of the landscape of the office space. These works have already been appreciated many times, becoming the background for numerous sessions, music videos and films.
It all started with the work of Andrey Berger, whose mural has become a showcase of the office building and depicts the process of climate change. It is located exactly opposite conference room and is perfectly visible from the windows of all our tenants' offices. This mural inspires. It encourages unconventional activities or in a unique way pleases the eye and allows you to take a breath in moments of pause.
Another mural present in the courtyard is the unusual format of Michał Janczyło's project, whose three-dimensionality attracts attention and allows you to pause for a moment in the rush between meetings, or to reset after a difficult meeting. The whole was made in cooperation with the students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź under the professional supervision of Ola Ignasiak.
To see more, you have to look deeper. More unusual murals await on the staircases. These are incredibly original and diametrically different works. It was here that Aleksandra Ignasiak and Maciej Walczak showed their talents — artists who have been co-creating the local art scene for years. Ola Ignasiak, an artist and lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, together with her students, contributed to the creation of one of the murals, which exudes energy, colour and artistic freedom. The second staircase is the work of Maciej Walczak — an artist of the younger generation who, thanks to his characteristic style and ability to create spatial forms, added a modern, slightly quirky character to the interiors of the office building.

A space that changes with art

Stara Drukarnia is also the site of numerous temporary exhibitions. The management of the office building, headed by Olga Jakubowicz and her team — Martyna and Ania — carefully selects artists and works that are presented in the common space of the building. It is their commitment that makes each opening of a new exhibition an event that changes the character of an office building.

Thanks to this, Stara Drukarnia is not a static place, but a dynamic space that is constantly evolving and invites you to discover new forms and creators. The exhibitions present works of both experienced and young artists, often from the Łódź environment, who, despite their young age, already have interesting projects to their credit and want to develop further.

Supporting young talent — mission and commitment

From the very beginning, all investors and CEOs of Stara Drukarnia agreed that art is an essential part of the life of an office building. Therefore, supporting young creators is not only a slogan for us, but a real action.

Stara Drukarnia organizes vernissages, meetings with artists, which always resonate widely. We had the pleasure of hosting unusual exhibitions of artists such as Piotr “Piad” Podsiadły, Jonasz Koperkiewicz, Alicja Bodzioch, Dominik Janyszek and many, many others. At the same time, we are actively involved in local artistic and cultural events, such as Ravekjavik or Slow Fashion & Design, which promote innovation and creative approaches to art and design. We are not only a partner of these initiatives, but often also a sponsor, which allows us to support the development of young talents and create a space conducive to creativity.

Our activities are definitely in line with the current trend of promoting cultural life in Łódź — today the city focuses on interculturality, new media in art and open spaces for artistic dialogue. This is exactly the path we support — art is to be present here and now, to engage, connect people and inspire.
As an Stara Drukarnia, we want to be part of this trend. We are building a space that opens up dialogue with the Łódź community — in the form of vernissages, competitions, partnerships at outdoor events — and thus strengthens the identity of the creative, culturally engaged city.
During such events, we proudly support competitions for young artists, in which the main prize is a solo exhibition in the space of Stara Drukarnia together with a professionally organized vernissage. This is not only a distinction, but a real opportunity to establish and build your own brand on the local and wider art scene. The support we offer helps artists establish valuable contacts with industry representatives, curators, collectors and other artists, which is often a key step in their further professional development.
We believe that art is a powerful tool for the development of both community and business. By investing in young talent, we are investing in the future — creating an environment that fosters the exchange of inspiration and innovation, while at the same time building lasting relationships between different environments. Thanks to this, the Stara Drukarnia becomes a place where business and culture not only coexist, but support each other and drive to action.

Art as a way to make a better life in the workplace

The topic of the influence of art on work was discussed in more detail herein. On the other hand, we know perfectly well that art in the workplace can inspire, stimulate creativity, and at the same time soothe, reduce stress and catch your breath. We see it every day when someone stands in front of a painting and then goes to the office or comes back to our lobby at recess to quiet down for a moment and look at the images.
Also, the change of the exhibition arouses great enthusiasm among the tenants. Everyone (a little) is waiting for her to see how the interiors will change this time and what character the walls of our Łódź office building will acquire.
During the vernissages — and long after them — we are happy to observe how our spaces are visited not only by tenants, but also by guests from outside the Stara Drukarnia community. This is especially important for us, because it confirms that the art we present also resonates outside the walls of the office building and attracts people interested in culture and creativity.
Our spaces have been designed with openness in mind — so that art is accessible to everyone, whether someone works in the building or just came in out of curiosity. Importantly, exhibitions and openings are completely free, which allows us to break down barriers and make art more inclusive.
